I recently got in a new batch of DVD cases done by custom DVD case maker Paul Champagne. Though these are all anime cases, Paul does a large number of both anime and live-action titles alike. Here are some close-up shots from the top, spine, side 1 and side 2. You can see many of these types of cases displayed in the various collection shots here.

Earlier this year, I found that I was running out of space rather fast in my existing figure display case upstairs. I wanted to have something that would hold what I had at the time as well as allow for future expansion. After some searching around at other places, I ended up at the familiar IKEA. I decided against getting more of the Billy system which I use mainly for DVDs. I wanted something that had doors and could be configured to the needs at hand. What I found was the BONDE system. I ended up getting two of these units and placing them side by side.

Here you can see both units closed. This allows a good amount of viewing while still keeping out most dust and such. I did replace the wood shelves that were included with glass shelves allowing for more visibility. The shelves are adjustable so you can set them at different heights. This works well when you have different scales of figures you want to group together. With both upper sections open you can see everything at a good level. The bottom sections open to reveal storage for empty boxes of figures that are on display. This allows for a quicker packing up of figures that are cycled out in place of newer ones without having to dig through boxes piled in the garage. These left and right sides show a closer look at each side with doors open. After some time the cases filled out a bit more. You can see some more detail of growth here and here.

As with anyone who collects a lot of figures there is always a space issue. Others handle it in different ways of course. I have found this to work pretty well so far. I don’t plan on expanding any more then this as far as I can see. Though I continue to get in newer figures I plan on cycling out older one either to storage or more likely to eBay at some point.

Got together the various items from June. A few of these items I picked up at Anime Expo, but the rest are from the usual sources. Some items of note include the various promo posters that came with the Ikki Tousen Dragon Destiny DVD and CDs. They are not full sized posters, but rather banner-type ones. Also got in the last couple of volumes of ‘The Third’, just in time for the R1 release from TRSI/Nozomi to begin. In the figure world, the Shenhua figure from ‘Black Lagoon’ didn’t really live up to expectations. The main body is fine, but the face just seems a little ‘off’. Might be something to sell of on eBay later on. The July issue of Comic Gum came with a clear sheet featuring Kanu.

Well things have been rather busy of late, so I’ve been somewhat lax in posting updates. In any case, I’ve finally got the April and May updates posted. I was driving to the Marukai in Gardena and while at a stop light I noticed a Manga rental shop. Out of general curiosity I popped in to see what they had. Though they were a rental place they did have a couple of things for sale, including the complete set of Patlabor manga….. for $12.00. Obviously I had to pick it up.

For whatever reason I continue to buy ‘UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie’ from ADV. It has it’s good points I guess. In any case, since ADV didn’t (and likely won’t) release a box for the series (other then those for the Thinkpak sets) I decided to pick up a couple of the R2 boxes for the show. Here are both boxes along with the various inserts and such that came with the R2s. I picked these up from Yahoo!JP Auctions so I ended up with volume 1 & 2 for both sets. This actually worked our good since both volume 1s came with an LE hardcover artbook and other cool stuff. Here are both sides (side 1, side 2) of the two boxes showing the wraparound artwork. And of course the finished product complete with R1s as well.

I’ve added a few things to the March 2007 folder representing the latest arrivals (and last since this is the end of the month). A couple of things I picked up at the local Kinokuniya, plus some end of the month figures.

Taking advantage of the Great Outdoors, I tried something new for this shoot of the 1/7 scale Sonsaku Hakufu (Ikki Tousen) from Griffon. Please note that these would most definitely be considered ‘Not Safe For Work’.

Finally getting back up to speed with current arrivals. Here is a quick look at what came in for this month. I’m not sure if the poster was a First Press item or just something they tossed in with the LE version of volume 1. The two boxes for The Third are basically to ensure that, now that I have them, TRSI will put out a cool box and some great pack-ins with their R1 release of the show. And if not; well, I still have these.

I’ve got a bunch of stuff listed on eBay now. Trying to find a new home for this stuff so many of the items have very low starting bids, some as low as 0.99 cents.
